a carpentry weekend class for beginners. over two days you’ll be introduced to a range of traditional hand tools and techniques to cut, fit, and finish two different wooden stools. the skills you'll gain will be really useful at home for your own projects
on Saturday: using different hand-saws, we'll cut a single board into five parts, and plane each to size before assembling them using glue and screws. this process will teach you different sawing and finishing techniques, and the basics of using a drill
on Sunday: you'll learn to use a hand plane, spoke shave, and a draw knife to shape the legs of your three- or four-legged round or square stool. we'll cut the seat to size and you'll learn how to attach the legs at an angle, and finish by decorating the stool with gouges to mark a pattern - and a coat of Danish oil
both days offer a lot of useful guidance about how to use the tools and materials in a variety of ways. you'll finish the weekend with two stools to take away with you
